History

John Olofson opened OLOFSON HAUTE COIFFURE in Brompton Rd in 1953. The salon established a reputation as the “Court Salon” for the Queen’s Courtiers and friends and was in direct competition with RAYMONDE (Teasy Weasy), the first Celebrity Hairdresser.

OLOFSON kept its reputation intact as others came and went. In 1993, Geoffrey Flanders bought the salon and merged it with his own Knightsbridge Salon, EQUUS. Geoffrey's renown as a colourist had created a client list of the “Great and the Good” that included: Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Isabella Blow, Arianna Huffington and Princess Michael of Kent.

In August 2012, EQUUS moved to the fashionable enclave of LAUNCESTON VILLAGE in Kensington. Exclusive and full of charm, it has a country feel yet is only a short walk from Kensington Palace.
